Some years ago a group in the States got together to form a web site where people could offer or request items. The idea was that there were lots of people throwing useful things away simply because they were no longer of use to them. The idea of the site was that people could offer these items for free collection to others in the area. They extended this to allow others to ask if anyone had certain items to offer.

This has now expanded around the world and so areas now have their own sites. A site for the Barton area has just been set up so people in Barton and the surrounding villages can use the internet to offer or request items.

There are only two main stipulations Firstly no animals ( including humans ) and secondly it has to be free. You cannot ask for any form of payment. You can access the site by logging on to http://www.freecycle.org/ and search for Barton upon Humber.

The group has only just started and so will take time to develop so why not be there from the start and help the group form. It is hoped more information will be given in the next issue of the Bartonian.
