It’s not too late to enter!

Barton Town Council Best Kept Garden and Hanging Basket Competitions are now being prepared for 2010. Entry forms have already been sent out to last year’s participants and a copy of the entry form is available in this issue of the Bartonian on the opposite page. Closing date for entries is Friday 16th July. Judging will take place during the last weeks of July and August.

The judges this year will be Councillor Frank Coulsey, North Lincolnshire Council Rural Neighbourhood Services Team Representative, and last year’s winners Mr H Clayton and Mr & Mrs N Welch.

Each year a Presentation Evening for the winners is held in the Assembly Rooms during October.

The winners from 2010 were:
Mr H Clayton of Nicholson Drive – Best Kept Garden, Private House,
Mr & Mrs N Welch of Hillside Drive - Best Kept Hanging Basket, Private House
The Wheatsheaf on Holydyke – Best Kept Hanging
Basket, Business Premises

At the presentation evening the winners received their certificates and prize money of £20.00 from

the 2009/2010 Mayor of Barton,

Councillor Ann Clark and
Andrew Robinson from Barton Civic Society who
assisted with the presentation. Each year the Civic Society
contributes half of the cost towards the prize money.

The competition runners up were:
Best Kept Garden Private House –
Mrs D Clipson, Waterside Road 2nd Place,
Ms W Altoft, Meadow Drive 3rd Place.

Hanging Basket, Private House –
Mr H Clayton, Nicholson Drive 2nd Place,
Mrs D Clipson, Waterside Road 3rd Place.
Hanging Basket, Business Premises –
H & HJ Huteson Holydyke 2nd Place,
Image Hair, Burgate, 3rd Place

Each of the runners up received a certificate and prize money
of £15.00 and £10.00
respectively.


All those who took part received a Certificate of Merit in recognition of the hard work undertaken.


It is anticipated that after the presentation of Prizes, a Gardeners’ Question Time will again take place, with the regular panel guests
