The half-term holiday at The Ropewalk could have been
a lesson in myths and pre-historic animals as work for the Lantern Parade
for the Christmas Festival got underway.
This year “dinosaurs and dragons” is the theme for the
parade and young people spent their half-term holiday making the
most imaginative
lanterns possible.
The Lantern Parade is the fifth organised by the Barton based children’s
charity ST-ART and the workshops were full of young people manipulating
dried willow and tissue into ancient vertebrates and legendary creatures.
The parade leaves The Ropewalk at 5pm on 26 November and will wend its
way through Fleetgate and High Street in time for the switch-on of the
Christmas lights and, as in previous years, is expected to draw appreciative
crowds.
