BARTON BIKE NIGHT

WEDNESDAY, 7th JULY, 2010 – 5 to 10pm

The voluntary members of the committee are well underway in organising and planning the 14th annual community event, based on the same successful format as previous, with the road closure starting at 3.00pm. This year we are pleased to welcome Euronics as a new main sponsor along with Barton Town Council, and marshalling help from Barton Lions, Rotary, Army Cadets and local residents. Several of the local pubs will have live bands playing to keep our visitors from around the country entertained and the town’s array of food shops will once again be well stocked and open late to take advantage of the welcome influx of visitors and revenue.

North Lincolnshire Classic MC are providing some live action staging the very popular Trials Display in the Cottage Lane car park along with displays from Maxxis Henderson Insurance LPE Kawasaki Motorcross and may trade stands selling motorcycle related products.

The High Street will host a Custom Bike Show organised by Barton’s own chopper builder Shaun Barley. Around the corner for this year the Queen Street area has been extended to accommodate more classic/vintage bikes and now includes the recently renovated Winderspin National School open for visitors and providing extra space for motorcycles and crash helmet parking. The Barton upon Humber Town Mayor will be judging and presenting the trophy to Best Classic Bike in the show. Life long motorcycle enthusiasts and great supporters of
the event Mr. & Mrs. John Andrews will be looking after the Vintage MC Club and Classic bike visitors attending along with showing several of their own motorcycles.

New to the event Ducati UK will be attending bringing its Road Show and about 12 ride out bikes along with St. Leger Harley Davidson and several other manufacturers. The Road safety partnership will be here with the Advanced MC Club, Air Ambulance and MAG plus Custom Painters, Clothing, Quads and as usual a wide range of food stalls.

HELP OUR HEROES
This year the organisers working with Barton Rotary Club will be collecting funds for the British Limbless Soldiers Charity BLESMA who look after amputees, injured servicemen and families from war conflicts such as Iraq, Afghanistan etc., and are hoping to raise a large amount on the night for this very worthwhile cause.

On behalf of the Committee we take this opportunity to thank the community of Barton for its co-operation while running this event in our town and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We sincerely hope you participate and thoroughly enjoy a spectacular evening.

The comprehensive Management and Safety plan for the night produced by specialist company Eventsafe of Lincoln which will take care of all the safety issues for the event has been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council Public Safety Group for approval, along with the application for the town
centre road closure to the Highways department. Notification of the proposed event taking place has been forwarded to Police, Fire and Ambulance services, Humber Bridge Board and many other authorities.

Once again the organisers are expecting the town to be full of all types and makes of bikes from Sports, Tourers, Custom, Cruisers, Trikes, Scooters down to the odd strange looking attraction each year.

Bike Night Committee Chairman
